Sunset on Samso at the beachfront

Samsø

Samsø is an island in the heart of Kattegat in the middle of Denmark. It is just under 30 kilometres long from the north to south and around 3.700 people live here all year. You get here with the ferry from Kalundborg on the Seeland-side and the ferry from Hou in Jutland. There’s also a fast-ferry from Aarhus carrying foot passengers and bicycles.

Samsø is known for its produce, not least the famous potatoes, the unspoiled nature, fields as long as the eye can see, small cozy villages, the harbors and the endless beaches which surround the island

Every year thousands of tourists come here to enjoy the unique and easy-going island-life, because on Samsø you are never ever in a hurry. You can drive around Samsø in a car or you can explore the island on a bicycle. If you didn’t bring your own, you can rent one.
